Game: Art Strikers SAGE Booth: https://sonicfangameshq.com/forums/sh... So I've been playing Shmups forever. I've got dozens on arcade emulators, plus growing up with R-Type I&II and later really finding myself absolutely loving the Darius games, especially G-Darius, my personal favorite. I remember playing R-Type I & II on a Gameboy Color in the fourth grade. Anyway, I've got one very simple issue with this game that I didn't have in those (even though they can be tricky, like R-Type) and it's simply, WHY IN THE HELL IS EVERYTHING A TANK IN THIS GAME!?" I mean, beautiful looking game, folks - Starry Night leaps right out of the canvas and onto the screen. A massive amount of work must have went into this. However, the devs thought, "You know let's make every ship take five or six bullets to down." Go Play Gradius on the SNES. Do it. How many shots did it take down a ship? ESPECIALLY WITH A SPECIAL WEAPON?" One. Maybe two, maybe three. There's no sense in making enemy ships freaking titanium walls here. Even when you get a special weapon, it takes an insane amount of shots to kill the mini -boss. I kept shouting "Die!" over and over again because it felt like I was fighting the final with how many times you have to shoot to kill it. Your special attacks don't seem to do much damage either. I'm telling you, this game will send me right back to the arcades, which were tough BUT fair. Send it back to the shop, it needs some balancing. But I'm not done yet. There should also be some way for me to tell how much I'm damaging these bosses. Maybe color changes like in the old games. Perhaps a pretty little life bar. I hate playing guessing games and even the masters of the eighties and nineties realized that too. let me know when I'm close to victory. I was gonna jump into the screen and fight that cloud boss myself. "That's enough! You're supposed to die now, cloud!"
