Update on the Rockstore climb near Malibu, CA that has been closed for over 5 years due to the Woolsey and Thomas fires that burned SoCal. Why is this road still closed after so long? After the devastating fires that burned over 3780,000 acres and claim 1,6000 homes, California was hit with it's second wettest year, causing massive mudslides, demolishing many of the roads and infrastructure in the area. As of the time of this filming, the Rockstore is still closed but there has been steady progress in the last few months to get this road open to cyclist, motorist, and its residents. The Rockstore climb is one of the most iconic climbs in Southern California, and has been a tried and true testing ground for world tour pros. Rockstore features a hairpin turn at the top called "the snake" that has been featured in many commercials, films, and photoshoots.
