Gender Justice - 2024 Mission Award for Advocacy

Gender Justice envisions a world where everyone can thrive regardless of their gender, gender expression, or sexual orientation. Based in St. Paul, but with impact reaching far beyond the Twin Cities metro, the organization creates that world by dismantling legal, structural, and cultural barriers that contribute to gender inequity. Through a focus on state-level litigation and advocacy, Gender Justice is creating a pathway to progress on gender equity despite tremendous federal barriers. In just the past two years, they’ve played a key role in securing historic legislative wins for women and LGBTQ+ people, including helping to pass the Protect Reproductive Options Act, the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act, the Trans Refuge Bill, the Menstrual Equity Bill, and so much more. Through their advocacy successes, Gender Justice has demonstrated that advancing gender equity through the law can be more than just an aspiration in Minnesota — it can be a far-reaching reality.
