The M3 Touring seemingly already nailed that brief, I called it the “IT car of our generation.” But when #BMWM really rolls its sleeves up, you get this — the #M3CS Touring. It’s the fastest wagon ever recorded on the Nürburgring at 7:29, it looks mega (ours in British Racing Green), has a more purposeful soundtrack, and somehow gives up nothing in day-to-day use. On paper the bump looks small (+20 hp), but CS magic is in the details. Charge pressure rises to 2.1 bar for 550 hp while the 650 Nm plateau stretches higher, and the whole drivetrain feels keener thanks to CS mapping for the 8-speed. Stiffer engine mounts tie the powertrain into the shell, the adaptive dampers, steering, DSC/MDM and integrated braking get their own CS calibrations, and rigidity is helped by the front M strut brace. Weight falls by about 15 kg — not headline-grabbing, but exactly the right grams in the right places. There’s also a lighter titanium rear silencer, which gives the car a meaner note you can hear the moment it fires. And the looks with eh carbon bonnet, diffuser, and other touches, truly elevate it to supercar desirability. Numbers? Quoted 3.5s to 62 mph, but our testing shows it much faster (see video!) with savage mid-range even matching the 458 Italia (0–200 km/h in 11.4s, 80–120 in 2.7s). Ring time is 7:29 — the sort of territory the M5 CS lived in. Yet it remains a proper Touring: 500 litres of boot (1,510 with seats down) and that brilliant split rear hatch. Inside you get the heated carbon buckets, thick Alcantara wheel and CS trim, but the car still works as a family tool. That’s the point. Price in the UK starts around £126k — roughly £35k over an M3 Comp xDrive Touring — but view it as the modern replacement for the M5 CS in spirit, and the positioning makes sense. This is the M of M cars: the rawer, less compromising flavour we all miss, distilled into the most usable body BMW makes. Today we cover: • What “CS” has meant from E46 to F90 and G80 • Every change vs M3 Comp Touring (hardware, software, rigidity) • Sound check and launch control runs • Road drive: grip, steering feel, body control, gearbox behaviour • Practicality and daily-use sanity check • Where it sits vs M3 Touring LCI and the new M5 Touring Follow us: Raz – / rokenr Jamie – / shotbyjamieb RBR – / removebeforerace TikTok – / rokenr CREDITS: Love my special effects?
