Need more reach and control from your router? In this video, I’ll show you how to build a simple, powerful router sled that expands your router’s surface area—unlocking new possibilities for cutting lap joints, flattening slabs, and improving accuracy on large workpieces. This is the third project in my Router Base Onion Build series, where each project builds off a shared plexiglass baseplate. If you’ve already seen the dog hole router table and the router anchor jig, this sled is your next layer. It’s designed to drop onto the same plate and provide rock-solid control for big cuts. You’ll see how I made the base, flush-mounted the plate, added top braces, and even reinforced it with rails to ride on Unistrut—turning it into a full slab-flattening jig without the back pain. Check the description below for links to the full plans, other jigs in the series, and related videos on my second channel. Want to get more out of your router? This sled is where it starts.
