Tune into another episode, this week we're diving into Sydney's notorious CPCC drop ride. Right from the start it was all on - Tom Hyde, one of CPCC's top racers, showed up with a clear mission: destroy legs and take names. They don't call it a "drop ride" for nothing - either hang on or enjoy your solo journey back. The route takes you through Sydney's deceptively brutal short-but-punchy climbs before heading down to La Perouse (or as I'd call it, a tourist trap). I quickly discovered that even 460 watts wasn't enough to survive Mons Avenue with these riders - a humbling experience to say the least. Thanks to a cheeky shortcut, I managed to skip Torrington climb and rejoin the group from there. Worth noting that my legs were screaming after back-to-back chop rides over the previous two days. Let me tell you, pre-fatigued legs plus CPCC's strongest riders are a recipe for suffering. We eventually parked up for much-needed coffee at Greenhouse. Dennis (a local photographer) snapped some shots of me post-ride at Sydney's famous yellow bridge, where every man and their dog has taken a photo on the bike, but for good reason. Whether you're curious about one of Sydney's most brutal club rides or wondering what it actually takes to hang with the CPCC riders, this raw look shows the unfiltered reality. Sub-optimal preparation and elite competition don't mix well, but days like these make us stronger (if they don't break us first). Enjoy watching me suffer!
