Craving cake but don’t have an oven or air fryer? 🍰 This Banana Caramel Chocolate Cake is soft, rich, and incredibly easy to make — all cooked in a pan on your stovetop! Perfect for beginners and small kitchens. Caramelized bananas on top, moist chocolate cake underneath, and no fancy equipment needed. Let’s get started 👇 Ingredients For the caramelized bananas • 20g butter • 1 tablespoon white or brown sugar • 3 bananas, sliced lengthways For the chocolate cake • 1 large egg • 50g granulated or caster sugar • 50g vegetable oil • 100ml milk • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 130g self-raising flour (Add 1 teaspoon baking powder if using all-purpose flour) • 20g cocoa powder ⸻ Method 1. Slice the bananas lengthways. Heat a 10-inch pan over medium heat, melt the butter, then add the sugar. Cook on low heat, stirring constantly, until caramelized. Remove from heat and arrange the bananas flat-side down in the caramel. Set aside. 2. In a large bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until combined. Add the oil, milk, and vanilla extract, and whisk again. 3. Sift in the flour and cocoa powder. Gently fold until just combined. Do not overmix. 4. Pour the cake batter over the bananas and smooth the top gently. 5. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for 20–25 minutes, or until a skewer inserted comes out clean. 6. Let the cake rest for 5 minutes. Carefully turn it onto a serving plate. If any caramel or bananas stick to the pan, simply place them back on top. 7. Allow the cake to cool slightly so the caramel sets.
