Beginning as a match type suited for The Four Horsemen, War Games matches that were held in WCW would eventually evolve into an annual event where faction would settle their differences. The Horsemen, the nWo, The Dangerous Alliance, the Wolfpac, all these groups took part in War Games matches. War Games didn't take place in 1999 but the match did return in 2000. Held on an episode of Nitro for the very first time, War Games 2000 "Russo's Revenge" changed everything we knew about the match by using the Ready to Rumble triple cage. Vince Russo, in storyline, brought the match back as a way to get revenge on Bill Goldberg (and others who had wronged him) and the competitors featured Russo, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett taking on Sting, Booker T, Goldberg, and Kronik.
