“Let It Go” is a song from Disney animated film Frozen 1 in 2013. This song was composed by a husband and wife team, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, performed by Idina Menzel, voice over as Queen Elsa in Frozen. Upon the released of the animation, the film as well as the song has became a commercial success. It’s became the first song from a Disney animated musical to reach the top 10 (ranked No.5) in Billboard Hot 100, since the break record 1995 Pocahontas “Colors of the Wind” peaked at No.4 on the chart. This song was sung in 41 different languages for the film’s released and gained international most recognized and most recorded Disney songs. This song featured in the film whereby Queen Elsa flees her kingdom due to her power (special ability to control ice) was revealed to her people. Due to this power the people were afraid of her and she is being stigmatized as monster. She ran to the mountains, away from the townspeople where she finally realized she no longer needs to hide who she really is and her freedom to be who she wants to be. The expectation of her as Royal has been stifling her and what she wanted to do all her life. Basically, I view this song is about letting go of a ‘disability’ we thought we have and that we would like to hide from others, living up to the expectations of what others view us to be. It’s about being yourself, being free of the shackles people tied on us. When Elsa sang Let It Go, it is to free herself, letting go of Her Royal Highness status and move on to be who she really is ! This song is quite difficult to play. I had hiccups in quite many sections while practicing it. On memory 13, tempo timing at 85 - 99, that part is really tricky on coordinating the pedals playing with the right and left hand @@! I think this is a beautiful song and I fell in love with it (despite all the hiccups ~ haha) while practicing. So I will be uploading another version using a different voicing, just for fun.
