There is a space around the anal canal called as the perianal space, which is filled with fat. This is more prone for infection and any anal gland which keeps the anal canal moist gets infected or some reasons like using the public toilets and later goes into abscess and it leads to severe pain and fever. Immediately they should approach the doctor and get a procedure called as I & D, that is open the abscess and drainage should be done. Otherwise it may open up inside and finally communicating outside it forms a tract called as fistula tact that is more cumbersome to treatment.
