Established as a joint venture two decades ago, Almajdouie & De Rijke provides specialized onsite logistics for industrial and petrochemical plants across Saudi Arabia and Oman. In this interview, Commercial Director Ather Ali Khan discusses the company’s transition toward full automation and its role in designing sustainable logistics infrastructure that can withstand the technological shifts of the next 25 years. “Because of these early adoptions, we are ready for the future challenges and we can offer sustainable services as well because technology alone should not be the slogan for tomorrow.” Key Insights: • High-volume operations: the company handles approximately 15 million metric tons of solids, liquids and fertilizers annually, providing onsite bulk handling, palletization and warehousing. • Infrastructure firsts: Almajdouie & De Rijke was the first to operate a dedicated rail facility inside an industrial plant for loading solid and liquid wagons. • Technical consultancy: the company provides early-stage optimization studies and simulations to help industrial plants design logistics flows that integrate robotics and AI from the start. • Automation and cost: current projects in Saudi Arabia and Oman include fully automated warehouse racking, conveyor systems and auto-palletization to reduce manual resource costs.
