Heavy rain soaks W. Oregon, S.W. Wash., prep for potential flooding & more power outages

Another round of heavy rain is hitting Western Oregon and Southwest Washington on Thursday, with some parts of the region expected to see 2 to 4 inches of rain within 24 hours. All that rain from the atmospheric river will create a high risk of flooding for some waterways, and also increases the probability of landslides. Windy conditions coupled with that saturated soil could also bring down trees across the region, causing more power outages. “Expect poor travel conditions with standing water on roads and reduced visibility throughout the day,” Storm Tracker 2 Meteorologist Rhonda Shelby said.
