How to organize a party with 5000 guests | Thouli Misirloglou | TEDxThessalonikiSalon

Have you ever invited 5000 people in your home? In this talk, Thouli Misirloglou describes what it takes to organize a “mega party”, i.e. a festival that spreads throughout a city, Thessaloniki in particular. For such a party lots of people and the local authorities cooperate with passion in order to offer the best experience to its participants. A festival is not just a gathering of artists and visitors; it is the means to change people’s views, and thus change an entire city. Για ένα τέτοιο πάρτι πολλά άτομα και οι τοπικές αρχές συνεργάζονται με πάθος έτσι ώστε να προσφέρουν την καλύτερη εμπειρία στους συμμετέχοντες. Ένα φεστιβάλ δεν είναι μόνο μια συγκέντρωση καλλιτεχνών και επισκεπτών, είναι το μέσο που θα αλλάξει την αντίληψη των ανθρώπων, και επομένως θα αλλάξει και μια ολόκληρη πόλη. Art Historian, active in the field of public & private collections, publications and art exhibitions. Since the late 1990s Thouli has collaborated with many museums and cultural institutions, both public and private, in Greece, Italy et.al. During 2005-2006 she participated in the reorganization of the Center for Contemporary Art of the State Museum of Contemporary Art. At her initiative in 2012, a Strategic Plan for the Development of Visual Arts and Applied Arts was drawn up voluntarily for the Municipality of Thessaloniki. From 2014 until 2019 (with the exception of 2017) she is General Co-ordinator and consultant for the artistic program of Dimitria Festival. She has been an executive of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art for many years, and its Director in 2017 and 2018. She is a member of national & local art committees and associations, as well as a founding member of artistic collectives. At the moment Thouli is Head of Collections of MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
