A popular must-do thing in Phuket is to visit the Wat Chalong, the Chalong Temple. This video shows you what to expect, and things to know before you go. Wat Chalong is the largest, most important, most revered and most visited Buddhist temple in Phuket. The grounds have many significant buildings. The Chedi, The tallest building on the temple grounds is a 60 meters tall stupa sheltering a bone fragment of Lord Buddha. Built during the 19th century, Wat Chalong was erected and housed two monks: Luang Cho Chuang and Luang Pho Chaem, both tended to the wounded during the rebellion against the Chinese tin miners. The temples served as a haven for those injured and ill who were seeking refuge from the ongoing rebellion. You can get there via tour, self-drive or taxi, I visited as part of a half-day tour.
