Title: Re-examining 183GHz Megamaser Disk Detections: New Insights through Cross-Correlation Description:In a small population of active galactic nuclei, lying within the dusty obscuring torus, there exists a population of water molecules called "water megamasers" orbiting closely around the supermassive black hole. These water megamasers are a novel way to study crucial phenomena in astrophysics and cosmology, such as supermassive black hole mass and the Hubble constant. Recently, the ALMA radio interferometer expanded upon its frequency range and now allows the opportunity to observe an entirely new population: 183GHz water megamasers. For this study, a python pipeline was developed in order to evaluate 20 spectra in search of water megamaser disks using linear cross-correlation. When a maser disk is present in a spectrum, it joins a small population of galaxies that are being used to directly geometrically measure the Hubble Constant. Currently, the Hubble constant values that have been determined using this method are not in agreement with the predicted value, signifying that there is a larger cosmological mystery to be discovered.
