The name Thekkady is derived from the word "thekku" which means teak. Temperatures are lowest in the months of December–January and highest in the months of April–May. If you are travelling by road from Bengaluru, you can take the following route and road throughout is pretty good and scenic. Bengaluru - Hosur - Dharmapuri - Rasipuram - Namakkal - Dindigul - Theni -Thekkady Start from Bengaluru at 6am and take pit stop just after Hosur for Breakfast.
