Cat5e cable crimping

Simple step-by-step on how to crimp a Network plug on the end of a Cat5e cable. The connector, also known as RJ-45 or 8P8C is a plastic 8-pin retangle box that has a space in the back for the wires to enter. During the crimping process, the wires become bonded to the gold pins which then make contact with gold pins in the network jack, network adapter, or network port on a switch (router). **Every detail is shown close-up** Seeing things in detail is crucial for this process. The RJ-45 crimp-on end is used to create a plug-able termination point on an Ethernet cable - either Cat5e or Cat6. This is something that is frequently done by telecom field technicians when a short cable is needed. in this demonstration, the wiring is 568B. There is another style known as 568A. Either is fine so long as the same style is used on both ends. Generally, Rj-45 (8P8C) crimp-on ends are not used to terminate permanent horizontal network infrastructure. In professional installations, terminations of horizontal cabling should be done on a patch panel. However, for small, or one-off situations, running a cable from the switch or router to the workstation and then crimping both ends with modular RJ-45s will still work fine. Steps: ------------------ 1. strip back the cable jacket 2 inches. 2. organize the wires into the wiring pattern (listed below) 3. trim off excess cable so that just less than 1/2 inch of wiring extends beyond the cable jacket. 4. carefully insert into the back of the 8P8C connector. Being careful not to let the wires get out of order. 5. Use the crimp tool to mash-down the 8 gold pins and plastic retaining clip onto the calbe. 6. Test cable for proper wiring and continuity using a Cable Tester. Wiring pattern for the a normal Ethernet cable terminated in a RJ-45 plug would be: (as seen from top with gold pins facing up and away from you) 1. White/Orange 2. Orange 3. White/Green 4. Blue 5. White Blue 6. Green 7. White/Brown 8. Brown Interested in the Crimp tool and Linemans' scissors shown in this video?
