In this video, we explore the drug smuggling history of Chokoloskee, Florida, a remote island community deep within the Everglades. At one point, the islanders here smuggled much of the marijuana that came into the US from the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. In 1983, Operation Everglades arrested much of the town, and by the end of the decade, 80% of the adult men in Everglades City/Chokoloskee were arrested.
