Conversations | How will new anti-money laundering regulations impact the art market? Broadcast live on Thursday, 25 February, 2021 Art businesses on both sides of the Atlantic are adapting to changes in anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. At the beginning of 2020, the UK implemented the European Union's new AML directive, while in October the US Department of Treasury issued an advisory that identified the art market as a focus of its enforcement efforts. This conversation brought together legal experts and leading gallerists to discuss what these developments mean for the market. How will regulatory developments in the US impact the global art trade? What can be learnt from how Europe has adapted? And how are art market professionals responding to this changing terrain? Roland Foord, Senior Partner, Stephenson Harwood, London; Bona Montagu, Partner, Skarstedt, London; Andrew Schoelkopf, Owner, Menconi + Schoelkopf, New York City, and President of the Art Dealers Association of America; and Harry Sandick, Partner, Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler, New York City; joined moderator Noah Horowitz, Director Americas, Art Basel.
