P. acnes : Propionibacterium acnes. It’s a relatively slow-growing, typically aero tolerant anaerobic, Gram-positive bacterium (rod) linked to the skin condition of acne. I think the title speaks a lot on itself. Zits aren’t very pleasant to look at when they’re on your face. At first, there’s a few. You may think that it’s because you ate too much sugar the day before or because of your 10 exams coming soon. But they don’t disappear afterwards. In fact, it only gets worst. You don’t understand why. The ones that finally disappear leave a mark of their passage behind. So you end up being scarred for life. The only thing you can do is to watch it happen, powerless and afraid. The effects of acne are far more than superficial. Your way of thinking about yourself and other are affected. How come I’m the only one with gross skin? Am I doing something wrong? I’m 20, shouldn’t I be having clear skin like every adults I know? Here’s how I picture my frustration. The plant growing symbolizes acne that destroys skin on its way up. It happens in an undefined time and place. You can see the girls fear and apprehension as she sees it grow on her. The little pink leaves represent the view others have on the situation, but also represent the time passing, since acne is hard to get rid of.
