Audio from MixPre-6 with Rode Reporter mic (dynamic, requires a lot of gain) and no post processing. MixPre-6 Strengths: Great Sound quality Analog limiters MixPre-6 Considerations: Manfrotto 323 RC2 or similar needed for efficient camera mount/unmout No built in Mic For a full review on MixPre-6 check out Curtis Judd's review • Sound Devices MixPre-6 Review Tascam DR-70D Strengths: Good sound quality Good design for camera mount/unmount Clearly the most usable device out of the box Zoom H4N: Good built in mics Terrible XLR pre-amps, nearly ruined recordings for me- Zoom H1: small and nimble, good for handheld use The suspension shown is the Rycote Portable Recorder Suspension. Regarding battery power: The Zooms have great power efficiency and remain battery powered for a long time. Tascam DR70-D has so-so battery life and require USB power for long takes. MixPre-6 also requires external power for long takes I believe (not speaking from personal experience yet, obviously... my first use of the MixPre-6). Should be powered by a USB-C source, other alternatives do extist (2 USB-A to USB-C cable included) True North by Adam Selzer is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 International License. http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Ada...
