Alus Jua Dendang - Elisha Tiga Eksperiment

Elisha Tiga Eksperiment is a jazz collective from Brunei Darussalam spearheaded by Elisha Tiga. Under the umbrella of jazz, the collective aims to inspire collaborations by musicians coming from different styles, backgrounds, culture, traditions and geographical location under the umbrella of jazz. Alus Jua Dendang is a traditional Bruneian folk song traditionally performed during weddings; in it, the groom (who, in a traditional wedding does not know the bride beforehand), flatters and declares his devotion to his new wife. Although discontinued and replaced with more modern and western influenced processions, this song continues to be performed for cultural festivities across the country. Inspired by modern jazz and contemporary harmony and arrangements, this arrangement reimagines this popular traditional song breathing new life into it's melody and classical delivery.
