The pipe organ, a "technical miracle" that embodied the pinnacle of mechanical engineering, acoustics, and aerodynamics before the Industrial Revolution, can be considered the ultimate crystallization of scientific technology. Even today, its intricacy is astonishing, and the instruments my father creates are characterized by predominantly mechanical operations with minimal computer control. An exhibition showcasing 50 years of my father’s work is currently being held at the scenic Yokosuka Museum of Art (May 17–July 6, 2025), Japan. The exhibit features organ models and photographs tracing the craftsmanship journey. Please stop by while exploring the Miura Peninsula or Kannonzaki. Events, including early music concerts, are planned during the exhibition (reservations required). Video Audio: J.S. Bach: Trio Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, BWV 527: I. Andante Organist: Ikuko Kinoshita "Half a Century of Suto Orgelbau: Its Sonority and Design" Suto Orgelbau is a studio specializing in pipe organs. The orgelbau was founded in 1977 by Suto Hiroshi, the first Japanese certified as a Meister of organ building in Germany. Originally located in Negishi-cho, Yokosuka, the company later moved to Nishi-uraga and has built over 20 organs for halls and churches throughout Japan. Organ building spans a wide range of fields, from design to various types of crafting, assembly, voicing, and tuning. Suto Orgelbau has earned a high reputation and trust by accomplishing all these tasks with precision and care Through models of more than ten organs they have built, photographs, drawings, and other materials, visitors will be able to look back on the company's history over the past half century and discover the unknown charms of the organ which can only be seen from the production site of the instrument.
