Class Date: March 31, 2021 Chapter 22 - The Imperial "I": When the Self Becomes the Arbiter of Morality Summary: The 1960s were a time when people in the United States began to go their own way. This resulted in cultural changes that impacted values and religion. People began experiencing life in a way that was different than their parents. In this chapter, D'Souza describes the difference between Traditional Morality (in which moral norms are set by a moral authority external to ourselves, such as The Ten Commandments), and Secular Morality (in which people find their values and morals within themselves). In this class, we discuss if there is an objective morality, or is this something that people can choose on their own.
