This was certainly a sight to behold! The Royal Lancers wearing their famous skull and crossbones cap and badge - an Armoured Cavalry Regiment from the British Army, celebrating Her Majesty Queen Camilla’s 78th birthday today at Edinburgh Castle, Scotland. Her Majesty was appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Lancers in 2022, following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Il, who had served in the role and as a devoted Royal patron for over 60 years. The Royal Lancers are one of the few regiments in the British Army with an active, named Royal affiliation. Though ceremonial, the position of Colonel-in-Chief carries deep meaning. Queen Camilla provides enduring and symbolic leadership, reinforcing the Regiment's identity, heritage and connection to the nation. As Colonel-in-Chief, Queen Camilla maintains a close relationship with the Regiment, attends major events, and upholds the traditions passed down by Queen Elizabeth II.
