Hi guys! Today is Labour Day in Malaysia, so me & my friend had already watched Thunderbolts* this morning. And guess what? It left a stunning but surprisingly pleasing impression on us. This movie finally gave us something the MCU movies have been lacking lately: the magic that brings the characters together, the extremely deep character exploration and their psyche + how they conquer their flaws in terms of both mental and physical, and the movie's overall plot itself not being a vehicle to promote another MCU project. As for the Marvel Studios intro itself, it's played in full IMAX 2D widescreen. However, the logo literally underwent a massive overhaul that no one saw coming. Here are some details: 1. Michael Giacchino's Marvel Studios theme plays as usual. It has all-new comic pages featuring the main Thunderbolts cast: Yelena Belova, US Agent, Red Guardian, Ghost, Winter Soldier and the Sentry/Void. 2. The camera turns to the left and zooms out, while comic pages constantly & rapidly flipping on the walls of the Marvel font. 3. A shadow-like darkness slowly consumes the comic pages. This is also the moment the Marvel Studios theme goes from vibrant and exciting to gloomy and serious. 4. The camera zooms outwards to the left to reveal an updated version of the stainless steel Marvel Studios logo, albeit with black background. There are two things in the logo that foreshadow the Sentry/Void's huge role in this movie: 1. The Sentry/Void has the most comic pages shown. 2. The shadow-like darkness consuming the logo is a reference to the Sentry's darker half: the Void. In short, this all-new version of the Marvel Studios logo is basically a mix of both the Phase Two and Phase Three Marvel Studios logos. Quite a nostalgic logo that surprisingly ends on a creepy note.
