The Legendary DAVID BEASLEY- THE EBONYS David Beasley, Camden, New Jersey’s own is the original member, creator and founder of The Ebonys. David Beasley brought together 3 marvelous people Jennifer “Jenny” Holmes, Clarence “Jingles” Vaughn Sr., and James “Bottie” Tuten. They started singing in Camden high schools, school choirs and talent show contests in 1967. They were discovered by the legendary also Camden, New Jersey’s own Leon Huff in 1969. The Ebonys signed with Assorted Music Inc. and Philadelphia International Records of the Legendary Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff on December 31, 1970. The EBONYS was the first historical legendary group on the Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff’s Philadelphia International Records (PHILLY SOUNDS / TSOP- The Sounds of Philadelphia) in 1971 with their first hit record; Just Because of You- You’re The Reason Why (number 10 R&B, number 51 pop) in 1971. The Ebonys had many other great hits and then in 1973 they scored again with the most popular hit record called Its Forever (number 14 R&B, number 68 pop) in 1973. These records are played all over America and world-wide even to this date. These were two of the greatest R&B Love songs in American history written, produced and arranged by Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, Thom Bell and the professional staff of Philadelphia International Records, for and sung by THE EBONYS. These songs speak to the heart, mind and soul of many in relationships and marriages. You could hear these songs all over the world on radio, television and at many events and marriage ceremonies since 1971. When millions of people all over the world love, honor and respect The EBONY’S contribution of these wonderful songs, they deserve to be recognized in the history of music, arts and the performing arts.
