This recent Martial Arts Seminar in London brought together an exceptional line-up of senior grades and world-respected instructors, creating a day of learning, tradition and mutual respect across multiple disciplines. Leading the event was Hanshi John Ward, 10th Dan of Ward Kenpo International, whose depth of knowledge and decades of experience set the tone for the seminar. Alongside him stood Hanshi Dessie McMenamin, 10th Dan of Zen Kenpo Ju-Jitsu, delivering powerful insights into fluid self-defence combinations and close-quarter applications. The Ju-Jitsu presence was equally strong, with Hanshi Keith Moughton and Hanshi Dennis Ward sharing refined throwing principles and practical combat responses rooted in traditional systems. Representing Bushi Kenpo Ju-Jitsu, Hanshi Martin Cousins demonstrated advanced concepts blending striking and grappling seamlessly. Senior Shihan instructors added further depth. Shihan Ken Keating showcased structured Kenpo combinations, while Shihan John Tuvey highlighted the sharp precision of Kenpo Karate. Weapons and traditional elements were explored by Shihan David Moughton, whose Kobudo work demonstrated timing and control. From Ju-Jitsu, Shihan John Michell delivered practical, street-aware applications, while Shihan Niall Mc Gowan reinforced the importance of structure and discipline in Bushi Kenpo Ju-Jitsu. Supporting the senior panel, Sensei Ross Cowan and Sensei Carla Joaquim worked closely with students, ensuring techniques were understood at every level. The seminar was not only a display of high-ranking expertise but also a celebration of unity within the martial arts community. Students of all grades trained side by side, gaining knowledge directly from some of the most senior practitioners in their respective systems. It was a memorable event that reinforced the values of respect, discipline and continuous learning that define true martial arts.
