Single-cell RNA sequencing of tumor and immune cells in patients with plasma cell premalignancy

Romanos Sklavenitis-Pistofidis, MD, PhD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, presents the results of a large single-cell RNA sequencing study of tumor and immune cells in patients with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM), and overt myeloma. The study analyzed over 6 million cells from 365 individuals and identified immune biomarkers of disease progression, including increased cytotoxic T-cells, clonal T-cell expansion, and pro-inflammatory changes in myeloid cells.
