When my parents arrived on the sands of UAE in the early ’80s, they didn’t know what to expect other than to work and earn a monthly salary, pay off basic expenses and then send the rest back home to build a house and leave some money for their retirement. Little did they know that the money they were earning would be the best they would ever earn in their lifetime, the salaries they would be paid month after month - which was tax-free, would bring them out of the struggling lower-middle-class life and propel them to the affluent upper-middle-class status. This was the good news. However, what they never expected was the money-making days of the Middle East would soon dry up. And once that started, they would very soon be catapulted into the day-to-day grind of trying to survive a corporate jungle that believed in the survival of the fittest. In this video I share the Rags to Riches & then Riches to Rags story of my parents in the UAE, how they made money in the Golden years of the UAE and finally ended up losing everything during the final years of their UAE lives.
