Razor: Real Life, New Music & Touring in the UK | Afro Soul Stories E20 In this episode of Afro Soul Stories, host Sewor Okudzeto sits down with UK artist Razor for an honest conversation about real life, creative evolution, and the road ahead. Razor reflects on his journey from a grassroots mixtape run in 2010—independently distributing over 5,000 copies—to becoming a respected and consistent voice in UK music. Known for steady growth and longevity, he has earned continued support from BBC Radio, Capital XTRA, and Kiss FM. The conversation explores Razor’s return with his breakthrough album Diamond In The Ruff, the impact of its success, and how taking time to refocus helped shape his sound. Its lead single Ride For Me earned Track of the Month on BBC Asian Network (DJ Rugrat) and received playlist support from BBC 1Xtra. Over the past five years, Razor has released a run of projects—Bittersweet, Collateral Damage, Alter Ego, and most recently No Comment—while continuing to build momentum both creatively and commercially. In late 2025, he was nominated for three RBE Awards—Best Rap, Best Male Act, and Best EP—winning Best Rap and Best Male Act, a milestone that reflected years of consistency and growth rather than overnight success. Razor also speaks on touring the UK, life on the road, and what performing live has taught him about his audience and himself. Having completed his first tour in 2025, he looks ahead to new music and two further tours scheduled for 2026, signalling the next chapter of his journey. This episode offers a grounded look at longevity, resilience, and staying focused in UK music—told from the perspective of an artist still building, still learning, and still moving forward.
