For NGL Recovery units the Mechanical Refrigeration Unit is recommended for an inlet gas with a GPM C2+ higher than 4 (GPM means gallons per Mcf). Ussualy as refrigerant it's used industrial propane meaning that the cold gas tempertaure could not be lower than -35°C considering a minimum approach temperature of 2-3°C. Some highlights: compressor type: screw or centrifugal for screw type oil cooling is necessary and considering the site location the following are recommended: warm areas: use air cooler and for cold sites used oil injection to control the oil viscosity usualy 2 stages are sufficient to provide the proper cooling of feed gas: to optimize the power consumptions try to set the same compression ratio for 1st and 2nd stage the chiller type: kettle min approach temperature shall be 2-3°C for a gas with operating temperature lower than -15°C and 5°C if operating T higher than -15°C remember that the compressor outlet pressure is depending by available cooling fluid air/water and the industrial propane condensing temperature: take 10°C min approach between cooling fluid and refrigerant check the refrigerant vaporization temperature to not obtain vacuum in compressor suction: aprox -37°C for industrial propane from time to time purge the propane because shall be impurified and due to change in compossition the refrigeration is affected. eBook: https://lnkd.in/evN6h_w https://lnkd.in/eF4KWM9 https://lnkd.in/eUcR2kk With respect and joy to share free technical info, Mihail #innovation #sustainability #research #energy #training #technology #business #engineering #design #future
