Something spectacular happened this weekend. I don't know exactly how everything evolved and what initiated this change, but at the moment I'm totally over the moon. A while back I started to experiment with the Dirt Rally 2.0 car setups. My main aim was to learn and better understand how the different settings affect the car's behaviour and handling. Although I'm still in the very early phases of this process, nevertheless, I have managed to get the setups to support my driving by making the car to better suit my driving style and to behave in a way that I prefer. This weekend as I was driving through the Swedish stages and enjoying the fruits of my new car setups, I suddenly realized that I was able to push the car much harder than before. Concurrently, I noticed that my driving style had changed; my timing in the corners was better, my footwork, especially my left-foot braking, was more precise and subtle, I was able to create a smooth rhythm and flow - it was a sensational feeling. I did several time trials and one club event just to test, whether this was just a one-off whim or a real evolutionary step in my driving skills towards better stage times. To my surprise, I was able to produce considerably better times on every stage than before. My PBs improved from 10 to even 30s per stage. I continued this testing today on tarmac and gravel and to my surprise the magic still worked. My driving skills have taken a step to a new level. I'm still miles away from the top drivers, but it certainly gives a huge motivation boost to realize that I have made progress and the numerous hours behind the wheel are slowly starting to pay off. I'm still totally blown away by all this. I'm just so incredibly happy! I hope you will enjoy this video. With this drive I managed to shave off 45s from my previous PB on Hamra. I just couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the stage time and the comparison to my previous PB. It took a while for the information to sink in - almost a minute faster.
