Women@Google and the Women's Leadership Community present Christie Hefner, former Chairman and CEO of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. As chairman and CEO of Playboy Enterprises from 1988 to 2008, Christie Hefner oversaw the global expansion of Playboy's legendary brand to a wide array of new platforms and markets, transforming a publishing-based business into a multi-pronged media and lifestyle company. In 1994, Christie led the Company onto the Internet, making Playboy the first national magazine on the World Wide Web. Playboy.com, which features original content as well as repurposed content from the magazine and television, has grown into a profitable multiple revenue business with e-commerce, subscriptions, advertising and online gaming. In 2003, Playboy targeted the "third screen" by expanding into wireless, putting branded digital content directly in consumers' hands. In November, Playboy Mobile launched the reality series "interns," its first digital program developed, shot, and produced exclusively for the mobile web. Acknowledging her pioneering efforts in bringing Playboy into the Digital Age, Multichannel News honored Christie as a "Wonder Woman" for her "major accomplishments within the cable, broadband and telecommunications industries." The media industry trade publication min inducted her into its Digital Hall of Fame in 2005. She currently serves on the Board and Executive Committee of the Magazine Publishers Association (MPA) and the MPA Government Affairs Committee. This event took place on February 4, 2009.
