In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commissions His disciples to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” All who believe are to be baptized into the Trinitarian formula - denoting both unification with and passing into (eis) the possession of ownership of the Triune God. Although the reading of the passage is crystal clear, Oneness advocates deny the Trinitarian Baptismal formula (and deny the Trinity). Typically, the objections are three-fold: 1) Matthew 28:19 is not found in the earliest Greek NT papyrus MSS,; thus, it was added in the text in the fourth century by the Roman Catholic Church. 2) The term "name" (Gk. onoma) is singular, not plural, which opposes the idea of plural gods in a Trinity. It affirms that the titles, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit represent the "name" of the one person Jesus. 3) The many times that the fourth century church historian, Eusebius, quotes Matthew 28:19, he never mentions a Trinitarian formula, rather, he cites a "in the name of Jesus" baptismal formula. In this presentation, these objections are addressed and simply refuted. Dr. Edward L Dalcour. http://christiandefense.org/ EDWARD L.
