The 'Totem Tour' in Duncan, BC, Canada on Aug. 19, 2012. Located in the southeastern corner of Vancouver Island, Duncan is dubbed as the "City of Totems." The town is home to the world's widest in diameter totem pole - Cedar Man Holding Talking Stick. It was carved by Richard Hunt in 1988. Duncan, the unofficial capital of Cowichan Valley, has over 80 First Nations carvings located throughout the town. It is also home to the Quw'utsun' Cultural Centre. This Aboriginal cultural centre on the banks of the Cowichan River honours the ancient roots of the Coast Salish in the valley, which takes its name from a Salish word meaning "the warm lands." Duncan is also known for great shopping and dining, the Saturday Farmer's Market, Aboriginal experiences, BC Forestry Discovery Centre, and its historic old-town quarter.
