The advantage of minimally invasive spine surgery is there is less tissue trauma and generally there is less recovery for the patient. When patients say they’ve had a Diskectomy or Decompression, these are all different names for a procedure to take pressure off a nerve and they can be done less invasively. Sometimes vertebrae are sliding inappropriately in relation to each other which causes inappropriate movement causes problem with the nerves or overall alignment of the spine.
