Heroes like Legion Commander, Wraith King, Ursa and Tiny are heroes that have a large amount of health but also regularly build armor by the mid-game with items like Phase Boots, Blade Mail, Echo Sabre, etc.. With the game revolving around heroes being able to deal physical and magic attack damage, thanks to items like Maelstrom, Radiance and Revenant’s Brooch, it makes a lot of sense that drafts are reliant on scaling strength heroes so players can focus their itemization on armor and damage output. Ringmaster is a popular first pick Support hero because his skillset makes him a safe blind pick when you don’t the line-up. His Impalement Arts is great right from the laning stage and Escape Act is an incredible save against even Enigma’s Black Hole, Mars’ Arena or Legion Commander’s Duel He’s a hero that has everything a team wants from the laning stage to the mid-game whereas his late-game suffers because his abilities can be dispelled, like Nullifier for Escape Act and cannot pierce Black King Bar. In terms of skill build, Ringmaster typically maxes out Impalement Arts first. It scales incredibly well, giving you 4 charges, so you’ll always have one to be available and its insane range means you can initiate fairly comfortably for your team to follow-through thanks to its slow. What’s incredible about the ability is its max health percentage damage, which, at max level, is even better than a Spirit Vessel and you have literally 4 charge of it that you can cast-back-to-back. On top of that, it has a relatively low cooldown and cheap mana cost, so combined with your decent auto-attack means you can actually bully out popular tanky offlaners like Wraith King, Beastmaster and Dark Seer with Vanguard. Once you get that point in Tame the Beast, you can actually combo the two together for an easy setup and follow-through for your laning partner. You also rely on an early point in Tame the Beasts to deny enemies from last-hitting the range creep so you can deny it too. Don’t forget that you can also use Impalement Arts to stack jungle camps from afar too. That range is also why you sometimes see Ringmaster roam fairly early on as the daggers reduce the needed travel time for the hero, so he can return to lane quickly and not leave his laning partner alone against two enemies. In terms of items, Ringmaster really loves Rod of Atos. It shifts his fairly unreliable skillset to becoming guaranteed hits without needing an ally to set them up for you. Meaning, you can Rod of Atos into Wheel of Wonder or Tame the Beasts or even Impalement Arts and then use the rest of your abilities as follow-through. What’s great about Rod of Atos as a first item is that it’s also your response to Queen of Pain, Storm Spirit or Puck. Rooting these enemies as they try to engage your team makes it especially satisfying and you can even follow up Rod of Atos with a quick Tame the Beasts to further entrap those midlaners before they can even try to escape. 0:00 Why Ringmaster is the Best Support 0:15 How the Meta makes Ringmaster so Popular 0:47 Why Ringmaster is such a good first pick 1:14 Ringmaster's Skill Build 2:15 How to Itemize Ringmaster 3:10 In Summary You can find me on Twitter for thoughts, opinions and news: / tortedelini You can chat with me about Dota on Discord: / discord Bio: Torte de Lini is a popular Dota 2 Builds & Guides Creator.
