Batteries are a ubiquitous part of our everyday lives- you're probably using one now while watching this video! But unless they're dead or dying, you probably don't think about them very often. In the Lab for Materials Properties and Structures (LMAPS) at the Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing, batteries are top of mind. Undergraduate and graduate students investigate the materials of batteries and how their crystalline structure can be manipulated to make more energy efficient, safer, and longer-lasting batteries.
