0:00 – Intro 0:30 – Removing the stock coil shock 2:15 – Weight comparison: coil vs air shock 3:10 – Installing bushings & pressing hardware 6:40 – Mounting the DNM air shock 9:20 – Fitment challenges & adjustments 11:45 – Final thoughts: is this upgrade worth it? DNM A09 -air shock (Amazon) https://amzn.to/480Yt6D In this video, I upgrade the rear shock on the Mongoose Ledge X1 full suspension mountain bike from Walmart. The stock coil spring shock weighs 15.7 ounces, and I replace it with a DNM air shock that comes in at just 6.8 ounces. That’s a big weight savings and a step toward making this budget MTB more capable on the trails. I’ll walk through removing the stock coil, installing the air shock with new bushings, and showing the final fit on the bike. This build already has a RockShox Judy TK Silver fork, JG crankset, and 29” wheel swap — and this air shock upgrade is another piece of the puzzle in transforming a cheap Walmart bike into something much more fun to ride.
