This well-known hymn was written by a man from York, Maine named William Batchelder Bradbury. I play it here in Asus partial capo (tuning EADGCE/ capo 002220) which is a little-known but very powerful and useful capo configuration that has a lot of the properties of the popular Esus. You’ll notice the lingering open strings in the melody, and a richer resonance than standard, without the over-sweet full open tuning sound. I am using my Liberty FLIP Model 43 (a silver-color prototype that is more visible here than the standard black, so you can see it) and a one of a kind 1990 Taylor guitar they made for me. The arrangement works in 2 octaves in this tuning, though you need a low-profile capo like this to be able to reach around it for the bass notes. I can’t find a way I like more to play this tune. Recorded 3/5/19 at Woodpecker Studios, York, Maine.
