The newest entry level sedan in the market, the Ford Figo Aspire takes on the king of the segment- the Swift Dzire. Our First Impressions. Ford Figo Aspire Vs Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire The entry level sedan market in the country never really goes old. The latest to join this segment is Ford Figo Aspire. Today we are putting it against Maruti Suzuki Dzire, because this is what it has to beat, if it really wants to make a mark in this segment. When it comes to looks, Ford Figo Aspire much better looking as compared to Maruti Dzire. With its overdose of chrome on the grille, it is so striking that it is difficult to take off your eyes. The car looks fantastic from all angles, in comparison Dzire looks big too chunky and loud. In fact it is safe to say that Aspire is the best looking entry level sedan till date. The chrome highlights and sharp lamps look a bit sophisticated in front of the big chunky lamps of the Dzire. From the rear part, Aspire looks good in comparison to Dzire. The boot plans beautifully into the body and does not looks misplaced or odd. The Dzire on the other hand, has not so beautiful boot. If we compare the space than too Aspire’s boot looks far more spacious than Dzire. The Dzire has a boot of capacity of 316 litres, the capacity of Aspire is 359 litres. Diesel is the fuel of choice nowadays, the comparison is also between Figo Aspire diesel and Swift Dzire diesel. Aspire gets 1.5 litre TDCi engine with peak power of 100 PS and peak torque of 215 Nm, while Dzire has 1.3 litre multijet unit that Maruti sources from Fiat. This engine produces 75Ps of power with peak torque of 190 Nm. There is world of difference in the drive. While Dzire is calm and composed, Figo Aspire is enthusiastic in front, press the throttle a little and car feels happy to do with speeds. It has so little lag that it is very easy to miss. The Dzire on the other hand very evident turbo lag below 1800 rpm. The beauty of Aspire is that engine picks up from as low as to 1000 rpm in the 3rd gear, so you need not to continuously downshift in the city. The 4th gear goes all the way upto 140 kmph and car can do much more before it runs out of breath. The Dzire is comfortable to do high speed, but not as high as the Aspire. Talking of comfort ride, Aspire is much for comfortable, there is little body roll for the rear seat passengers and steering unit is just beautiful, precise and very confident. The NVH of the car is well under control. The steering on the Dzire is good also, but at high speed it gets a bit wobbly. Aspire and Dzire both are feature edge car, the Figo Aspire however offers more features than Dzire. The top end version comes with Ford’s famous sync feature and smart key. The Titanium comes with phone mount at the top which couldn't fit HTC or samsung, it looks like a unit of iPhone. The car overall offers similar Ford like interiors, While Dzire on the other hand comes with beige and black dash, which gives the car airy and spacious feel. The cabin of Dzire is rather simple in front of Aspire. Both cars comes with Aux-in USB, Radio, Bluetooth connectivity and steering controls. The Aspire has three cupholder upfront and three bottle holders in the front door, however there is no cup holders at the back. The Dzire has bottle holders in each door and cup holders at front. The rear seat of Aspire offers more headroom and legroom for 3 passengers, while Dzire’s rear seat is a bit tight. Ford has taken the safety aspects very seriously too and the Aspire will come up with the host of safety features. The Ford has its hope up with Aspire, and the overall package is actually quite decent. It’s nice to look at with good engine options. It is quite spacious and very nice to drive. It has also got the lot of room for family to fit in the luggage, if you are going for that long drive, so technically it's a strong package. However, one key detail is still missing, we are still awaiting the price of the Aspire, which are going to play a very crucial role, especially if Ford is looking to make another success story after the success of Ford Figo and the Eco Sport.
