In this video I show you how I make a cake stand from a single piece of clay. I throw the cake stand upside down, forming the plate and then the base. Then I let it dry and form the rim of the stand once the plate has dried to almost leather hard. There are some important steps along the way to ensure your cake stand does not crack as it dries. I discuss the type of clay I use for this project. The YELLOW RIB featured in nearly every video has been with me for years and I use it for shaping, refining & compressing. I would never want to be without. It's hard to loose... and it just carries on. Along with my wheel - this is with me for the long haul!
