Interview with Esther Keller The modernisation of the port infrastructure, in particular the planned relocation of the port railway from the Klybeckquai and Westquai to the Südquai, enables the urban transformation of the Klybeck and Westquais on the Rhine. For the districts of Klybeck and Kleinhüningen, this offers the opportunity to gradually grow to the Rhine and the meadow. The Grand Council has formulated its expectations for the Klybeckquai-Westquai area development in 2023 in a counter-proposal to the withdrawn popular initiative, "Harbour for all". The canton examined the implementation of the counter-proposal last year in an urban planning study with an interdisciplinary planning team and an accompanying group that included voices from the affected neighbourhoods and the Young Council. The results of the study form the basis for the current planning proposal of the Government Council. The proposal is based on the canton's previous urban planning concept from 2019.
