Haas Professor of Medicine, Co-Leader of GI Oncology Group Stanford University School of Medicine Dr. George Fisher is a professor of medicine at Stanford University. His research and clinical interests are focused on gastrointestinal cancers including neuroendocrine tumors. As co-leader of the GI Oncology Program at Stanford, he has assembled a team of devoted researchers and clinical staff that are dedicated to improving the outlook for patients afflicted with GI cancers. His research includes studies of molecularly targeted therapies and immunotherapies directed against GI cancers. Dr. Fisher is the Vice Chair of the GI Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) and serves on the NCI Neuroendocrine Tumor Task Force which sets the agenda for national trials on neuroendocrine tumors. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS) and is co-chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the NET Research Foundation as well as a member of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN). He is past president of the California Division of the American Cancer Society and remains a devoted volunteer for that organization.
