~ By late '66 i think and believe that kesey was feeling so much pressure from the police and maybe a long term prison sentence he realised that the 'acid tests' should & would be halted....october 6th 1966 saw lsd banned and so kesey wanted a final test where he thought the pranksters and others could 'go beyond acid' and maybe get natural high's...bill graham's 'winterland' was booked for this final goodbye with the anonymous artists of america & the grateful dead booked to play, kesey held a small interview session outside the venue talking to journalists and newsreel camera's and seemed very at ease with the media spotlight even inviting them along to experience the event! bill graham got wind that kesey and his followers would be up to no good on the night so pulled out probably fully aware that his licence for the venue would be at great risk...so the event was held at the prankster warehouse over on harriot st. in the SoMa district where only around 200 or so people turned out and not the 6000 kesey expected at winterland!....i have edited together elements i have in my archive with the main body of film from the '67 hippie explotation potboiler 'the world of acid aka somethings happening aka the hippie revolt' filmed in san francisco and los angeles '66 but not released till '67....then a news report from the graduation plus rare photo's from the evenings proceedings (as the 'graduates'' collected their diploma's the AAA played over & over pomp and ceremony)....the dead would play california hall instead the same evening hallowen october 31st (only AAA would play the test)....as a sidebar several artists have been mentioned for the poster design but i believe it was allen (gut) turk who was great friends with the pranksters and was photographed with cassady when setting off for the event (see my photo montage..) this would be the final test in san francisco but a 'test' was held by kesey associate larry mcmurtry in texas march '67....
