In 1982, Reverend Dr. Herbert H. Lusk II, a former Philadelphia Eagles Running Back, "The Praying Tailback", accepted the call to pastor the Greater Exodus Baptist Church. Reverend Lusk is the first NFL football player to kneel in the endzone and pray, after scoring a touchdown. Under Reverend Lusk's holistic approach to ministry, thousands of people have been fed, clothed, educated, and trained in job skills through Greater Exodus's community outreach organization, People for People, Inc. (PFP) founded by Reverend Lusk in 1989. Components of PFP, Inc. include PFP Charter School, the PFP Early Childhood Development Center, the H.O.P.E. Pregnancy Center, PFP Credit Union, Stand For Africa, the Fredrick Douglas Christian School in Chester, PA, the Grace Dental Clinic, and multiple programs that mentor children of incarcerated parents, fathers released from incarceration who need help with parenting skills, and those that provide youth enrichment. In 2014, Greater Exodus, PFP, Inc., Project HOME, and partner Jon Bon Jovi marked the grand opening of JBJ Soul Homes, a 16 million, multi-story building covering the entire city block at Ridge Avenue, Fairmount Avenue, and Broad Street which provides 55 units of transitional housing for low-income individuals. Reverend Lusk's work has been cited by President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton, who have both visited Greater Exodus Baptist Church. Reverend Lusk was introduced by actor Mark Wahlberg, at the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, PA with Pope Francis, and over 300,000 strong audiences heard Reverend Lusk recite the story of the "Prodigal Son". Reverend Lusk valued his relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles, as Head Chaplin, especially during the Eagle's Super Bowl-winning season. GO EAGLES
