Detroit, Michigan, August 2, 2013 -- Nearly 500 Arabs are killed every day, fighting each other in Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, Bahrain and the list goes on. For two years now, the Arab world has been burning and destroying itself, and this could continue for many more years. How can the bloodshed be stopped? What would it take to stop the carnage in Syria? How has the relationship between Syria and Egypt changed? What is the impact of Egypt's transition on the situation in Syria? What is the U.S. dilemma in both countries? Radio Baladi with hosts Laila Alhusinni and Atef Abdel Gawad discuss the current dismal Arab relations with Dr. Sahar Khamis and journalists Omar al-Muqdad and al-Ahram correspondent Izzat Ibrahim. Dr. Khamis is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland in College Park. She is an expert on Arab and Middle Eastern media and was the former Head of the Mass Communication and Information Science Department at Qatar University.
