#AppalachianTrail #NuclearLake #prepper Join me as I hike to Nuclear Lake, NY on the Appalachian Trail. The site is called "Nuclear Lake" because it was the location of a nuclear enrichment facility in the 50s -70s owned by United Nuclear Corp that had contracts with the federal government to develop enriched Uranium and Plutonium for nuclear weapons and fuel. There were two incidents during the operational history of the facility, the most notable being an explosion that blew out all of the windows and started a fire. It caused Plutonium dust to be released into the surrounding forest and environment. There were also 55 gallon drums of nuclear waste that were dumped in the lake itself. The site itself was shrouded in mystery and very little is known about the facility as well as the details of the accident and cleanup. The area is very secluded and there was even a sighting of a Bigfoot recently where a camper had a close encounter. The area is full of bear, deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, hawks, eagles, rabbits, coyote, fox, raccoon, and even the occasional moose. The site was cleaned up and there are no signs there was ever even any environmental catastrophe here. It is a very weird area the combination of the nuclear accident, sightings of bigfoots, strange stone formations, and even some weird rituals. The scenery is nice and is a popular local spot.
