During our U.S. concert tour we had the chance to play this impressive Allen organ in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Even though the instrument has only two manuals, it turned out to be incredibly powerful — almost overwhelmingly loud in the room! In this performance I play my Organ Sonata No. 1, a piece that explores the full color palette of the instrument. The sonata moves through several contrasting sections: from intense, full-organ passages that push the instrument to its limits, to softer, more intimate moments — before building again to a powerful and brilliant ending using nearly the entire organ.
